THE QUESTIONS PEOPLE ASK MOST OFTEN

And the answers of course

The security and privacy of your, and your client's, data is critically important to us. We've baked in leading-edge security measures from the ground up to ensure that only the right people and approved devices can access your company's information in Dronedesk.

As standard, Dronedesk encrypts PII (Personal Identification Information) data at rest, including but not limited to; passwords, email addresses, postal addresses, names and company names. The added benefit of this approach is that no malicious actor, or indeed any Dronedesk employee, will have access to an unencrypted view of your, or your client's, sensitive data.

Dronedesk supports the latest recommended secure cipher suites to encrypt all traffic in transit, including use of TLS 1.2 protocols, AES256 encryption, and SHA2 signatures, whenever supported by the clients.

Yes.

We don't connect directly to your DJI account though; the reason being that they encrypt their log files and they don't make the decryption algorithm avaiable to the public. We don't have the resources to develop a decryption algorithm ourselves so we rely on the clever people at AirData.

The other great advantage of using AirData is that it will also process your logs from Litchi, DroneDeploy, Pix4D and a host of other apps. Plus it'll sync logs from other drone brands like Autel, Freefly and Yuneec too.

If you already use, or create an account at, AirData, you'll be able to sync your log files into Dronedesk. In our free plan, that can be done with file imports. In our Pro plan, the syncing is done automatically for you.

The Dronedesk service is hosted exclusively in UK data centers offering state-of-the-art physical protection for the servers and infrastructure.

We take exhaustive steps to identify and mitigate risks, implement best practices, and constantly develop ways to further improve security and privacy

Dronedesk supports the latest recommended secure cipher suites to encrypt all traffic in transit, including use of TLS 1.2 protocols, AES256 encryption, and SHA2 signatures, whenever supported by the clients.

Each Dronedesk customer's data is hosted in shared infrastructure and logically separated from other customers' data. We use a combination of storage technologies to ensure customer data is protected from hardware failures and returns quickly when requested.

We started out as drone services company but, since Dronedesk became so popular, we no longer maintain our PfCO (although it's valid to the end of Nov-20). We therefore have no reason to market to your clients; it's highly unlikely they'd have any interested in our services anyway!

And just to re-assure you, in line with our Privacy Policy, we never share, give or sell data to any third party. Ever.

As standard, Dronedesk encrypts PII (Personal Identification Information) data at rest, including but not limited to; passwords, email addresses, postal addresses, names and company names. So, even if we wanted to, we couldn't identify your clients from the data held in the Dronedesk databases.

Well we generate a small amount of ad revenue from the in-app ads we show. We also subsidise the free service with subscriptions from the paid service. This approach eats into our profit margin but there's a couple of reasons we continue to, and always will, offer that free plan:

  • We were originally a drone services startup and we know how hard it is to get up-and-running. There are any number of companies queing up to charge you a monthly subscription for services like accounting, web hosting, job portals and so on. Those subscriptions can quickly add up to a significant sum each month. So, when we came up with Dronedesk as a concept, we wanted it not only to be an app that would help operators streamline and standardise their operation, but also be affordable. And you can't get more affordable than free!
  • When we first released Dronedesk, we got a tremendous amount of input, help and support from the drone operator community. We're hugely grateful for that because it helped shape the development and make Dronedesk the world-class app that we're able to offer today. So, as a gesture of thanks to the drone operator community, we want to continue offering the free plan forever.

You can read more about our creation story and our ethos on the about us page.

Well first off, rest assured, you will not lose your data.

Because there's no contract and your subscription is on a rolling monthly basis, you can just downgrade your account at any time and your subscription will be automatically cancelled. Note that we don't offer refunds for any unused days of the month you cancel in, so you're best option is to cancel just a few days before the end of your billing period.

If you continue using the free plan after cancelling, your access will be limited to the first person in your business who signed up and any Pro features will be disabled.

Lots!

You'll genuinely save hours of time - and therefore money - especially when planning flights. Because everything is brought together for you in one place, you won't need to jump from flight safety app to the NOTAM website to weather app to Google Maps to AIP - it's all right there, pre-populated for your flight area.

You can use our simple savings calculator to estimate what you're likely to save over a year.

For example, a one-man drone operation planning 3 flights a week for 30 weeks a year will, on average, save around £968 per year.

No.

Your payment details - like card number etc. - are never stored or collected by us or our Subscription management service Outseta. That information is provided directly to our third-party payment processors - Stripe - whose use of your personal information is governed by their Privacy Policy.
