Environmental policy
This page sets out Dronedesk's measured carbon emissions, what we have changed to reduce them, the targets we have committed to and the tree planting we fund. Every figure links to its source.
Dronedesk has made the SME Climate Commitment through the SME Climate Hub, a non-profit initiative whose founding partners include the UN-backed Race to Zero campaign. As part of that commitment we publish an emissions report every year. View all our reports.

How these figures are produced
- Self-reported using the SME Climate Hub's business carbon calculator. They have not been checked by a third party.
- Scope 2 is location-based. It uses the average carbon intensity of the grid, so it stays above zero even on renewable electricity.
- 2023 covers the calendar year. Later years run to 31 October.
- From 2024 we also measured staff commuting, so scope 3 is not strictly like for like with 2023.
What we have changed
Renewable electricity
In 2023, 36% of the electricity we used came from renewable sources. Since 2024 it has been 100%.
Meetings online by default
Business travel emissions fell from 1.30 t in 2024 to 0.37 t in 2025. As we grow, more clients ask to meet in person, so this is the figure we watch most closely.
Supplier choice
In 2024 we moved, where we could, to suppliers that publish environmental policies. Purchased goods and services remain our largest single source of emissions.
Our 2030 target
Our target is to halve total emissions by 2030 against our 2023 baseline. That means 3.22 t CO2e or less, across scopes 1, 2 and 3. The yearly milestones and plan are below, and progress is published every year in our SME Climate Hub reports.

How we plan to get there
- Keep all of our electricity on renewable supply.
- Meet online by default, and use public transport where we do need to travel.
- Review our software and hosting suppliers every year, favouring those that publish emissions data and reduction targets.
- Keep computer hardware in service for longer before replacing it.
- Measure the same scope 3 categories every year so progress can be compared fairly.
This plan, the milestones and our progress figures are self-assessed. They have not been verified by a third party.
Tree planting with ForestNation
Dronedesk plants one tree with ForestNation for every new subscriber. ForestNation is a for-profit company based in London.
Our trees go into a ForestNation agroforestry project in Tanzania, which ForestNation says provides jobs for women and income for local farmers. Trees are planted in batches, and every batch is logged on our public forest page.

Tree planting is separate from our emissions
We do not subtract these trees from the figures above, and we do not use them to balance out our emissions.
What we do not claim
- We do not claim that Dronedesk's emissions are zero or balanced out.
- We do not count tree planting against our emissions.
- We do not claim that using the Dronedesk platform reduces your environmental impact.
- Our emissions figures are self-reported and not independently verified.
